Engine Performance Diagnosis & Repair
Misfires, rough idle, shaking, hesitation, stalling, poor acceleration, and loss of power can come from faults in the ignition, fuel, air, exhaust, turbocharging, or mechanical systems. Structured testing helps identify the actual cause before parts are replaced.
Common symptoms
- "The engine misfires, shakes, or vibrates"
- "The car idles roughly or stalls"
- "It hesitates or responds inconsistently when I accelerate"
- "Acceleration is poor or the vehicle has lost power"
- "The check engine light is flashing or remains on"
What we check
- 01 Misfire counters, fuel trims, oxygen-sensor data, ignition timing, and other relevant live data
- 02 Ignition coils, spark plugs, related wiring, and ignition control
- 03 Fuel pressure, injector operation, and fuel delivery under the conditions that cause the symptom
- 04 Intake leaks, MAF and MAP sensor data, and boost pressure or turbocharging controls when applicable
- 05 Exhaust restriction when the symptoms and test data indicate a possible restriction
- 06 Compression or other mechanical testing when an internal engine problem is suspected
A flashing check engine light often indicates a catalyst-damaging misfire and should be treated as urgent. Avoid extended driving until the cause is identified.
Engine performance problems are often diagnosed most effectively by capturing live data while the symptom occurs, then testing the systems capable of causing it. We confirm the findings before recommending repair.
A note on shop equipment
Some repairs cannot be completed safely at a mobile location. After the diagnostic, we will tell you whether the work can be done on-site or whether shop equipment is required, before any repair begins.
