Common Signs of an Electrical or Charging Problem

These symptoms do not identify one failed part. A weak battery, faulty alternator, excessive key-off battery draw, poor power or ground connection, or wiring fault can cause similar behavior, so we test the system before recommending repair.

Battery Keeps Dying or Needs Jump-Starts

The battery goes dead after the vehicle sits or repeatedly requires a jump-start.

Battery Is Not Charging

The battery does not regain charge while the engine is running, or the vehicle loses electrical power after a jump-start.

Battery Warning Light

The battery or charging-system warning appears or remains on while the engine is running.

Dim or Flickering Lights

Headlights, interior lights or dashboard illumination change brightness, flicker or pulse.

Intermittent Power Loss

Electrical power, the instrument cluster or multiple vehicle systems cut out, reset or behave inconsistently.

Problem Remains After Parts Replacement

The battery or alternator has already been replaced, but the original electrical problem continues.

What We Test and Repair

We begin with the reported symptoms and relevant repair history, then test the parts of the electrical and charging system connected to the problem.

Battery Testing & Replacement

Battery state of charge, available capacity, terminal condition and charging response. If the battery has failed, replacement can be completed after the estimate is approved.

Alternator & Charging Output

Alternator output under load, charging voltage, voltage stability and related charging-system operation. A failed alternator can be replaced after the diagnosis and estimate are approved.

Parasitic Battery Drain

Key-off current draw after the vehicle enters sleep mode, followed by circuit isolation when excessive battery drain is present.

Power Feeds & Grounds

Battery cables, primary power connections and ground circuits checked for looseness, corrosion, voltage drop or excessive resistance.

Fuses, Relays & Power Distribution

Relevant fuses, relays and power-distribution circuits tested according to the reported electrical problem.

Wiring & Circuit Faults

Charging and primary power circuits checked for damaged wiring, poor connections, open circuits and short circuits.

The exact diagnostic path depends on the symptoms and the initial test results. We test the systems relevant to the problem instead of applying the same checklist to every vehicle.

Our Electrical Diagnostic & Repair Process

  1. 01

    Review the Symptoms

We confirm when the problem occurs, how long the vehicle has been sitting, what parts have already been replaced and whether any electrical equipment was recently installed.

  2. 02

    Test and Isolate the Cause

We perform the relevant battery, charging-system, voltage-drop, current-draw or circuit tests needed to identify the source of the problem.

  3. 03

    Explain the Findings and Price

We explain what the testing found, recommend the appropriate repair and provide the price before additional work begins.

  4. 04

    Repair and Verify

After the repair is approved, we replace or repair the failed component and repeat the relevant tests to verify correct electrical or charging-system operation.

Pete Valerio

★★★★★
I highly recommend Lubomiroff Performance Mobile Auto Repair. From the moment I reached out, he was quick to respond, communicated clearly, and was able to come out promptly. He showed up on time, was extremely professional, and did all the work right in my driveway. He kept me informed throughout the entire process and even sent me pictures of the work, including the old and new parts, as well as photos of other potential issues I should keep an eye on. He replaced my alternator, pulleys, and even fixed my blinker light at no additional charge. I really appreciated his honesty, professionalism, and attention to detail. It's hard to find a mechanic you can truly trust, and I feel like I found one. Five stars all the way! I highly recommend him and will definitely be using him again in the future.

★★★★★
I got an alternator replaced a few months ago by Alex from Lubomiroff Performance and was very happy with the mechanical work, communication, and professionalism. I would use his services again in the future and recommend him to others.

Keith Kloucek-Hummel

★★★★★
Alex was very prompt and courteous in answering my questions and getting me scheduled, even late into the evening on a weekend! Incredible selfless service. His price was incredibly reasonable (especially for next-day service). I normally take my car to the dealership, but will be calling and recommending Alex when the vehicle can’t move. Thank you Alex!

Alternator & Electrical Service FAQs

CAN YOU REPLACE AN ALTERNATOR AT MY LOCATION?

Yes. Many alternators can be diagnosed and replaced at a home, workplace or other safe service location. We review the vehicle, component access and repair requirements before confirming whether the replacement can be completed on-site.

HOW DO YOU DETERMINE WHETHER THE BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR IS BAD?

We test the battery condition, charging output, power connections and grounds instead of identifying the failed part from symptoms alone. If the battery continues to discharge while the vehicle is parked, additional testing may be needed to check for an excessive key-off draw.

CAN THE REPAIR BE COMPLETED DURING THE SAME VISIT?

Many battery and alternator replacements can be completed during the same visit when the cause is confirmed and the correct parts are available. Electrical problems requiring extended testing, additional parts or shop equipment may require a follow-up appointment.

CAN YOU DIAGNOSE A PARASITIC BATTERY DRAIN?

Yes. We allow the vehicle’s systems to enter sleep mode, measure key-off current draw and isolate the affected circuit when excessive draw is present. Because this testing can require additional time, an Advanced Diagnostic Service Call may apply.

CAN YOU DIAGNOSE AN INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEM?

Yes. We use the symptom history, electrical measurements and targeted circuit testing to trace intermittent faults. If the condition is not present and cannot yet be confirmed, we explain the findings and next step instead of recommending parts based on a guess.

IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE WITH THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ON?

A battery or charging-system warning can mean the vehicle is operating only on the power remaining in the battery. The vehicle may lose electrical power or stall once that charge is depleted, so unnecessary driving should be avoided.

DO YOU REPAIR OR PROGRAM ELECTRONIC MODULES?

We do not provide internal electronic module repair or module programming. If testing indicates that one of these services is required, we explain the findings and the appropriate next step.

IS THE REPAIR COVERED BY A WARRANTY?

Repairs completed by Lubomiroff Performance include coverage under our published warranty terms. Coverage depends on the repair and the parts used.

Electrical or Charging Problem? We’ll Take Care of It.

Send us the vehicle year, make and model, its location and a short description of the electrical or charging problem. Include any recent battery or alternator replacements and when the problem occurs. We’ll review the information, confirm which diagnostic service call applies and provide available appointment options.

If the vehicle requires a repair that cannot be completed at its location, we handle the repair at our shop. We arrange pickup and return the vehicle after the repair is completed and verified.
