Steady Check Engine Light
The light stays on even though the vehicle may appear to drive normally.
A check engine light means the vehicle has detected a fault—not simply a warning to clear. Depending on the cause, delaying diagnosis can lead to additional damage, a breakdown, or a more expensive repair.
Backed by automotive repair experience since 2017, we come to your location to identify the actual cause and handle the repair needed to correct it. Proper testing before parts are replaced helps avoid wasted time, unnecessary repairs, and the cost of replacing parts that were never the problem. You know the diagnostic service call price before the appointment, and no additional repair work begins without your approval.
The check engine light may be the only sign of a problem, or it may appear with noticeable changes in how the vehicle runs.
The light stays on even though the vehicle may appear to drive normally.
The light flashes while the engine is running or while the vehicle is being driven.
The engine runs unevenly, vibrates, or feels like it is misfiring.
The vehicle responds slowly, hesitates during acceleration, or no longer delivers normal power.
The light comes and goes, or it returned after codes were cleared or previous work was completed.
The vehicle did not pass an emissions inspection because the check engine light was on.
If another warning light appeared at the same time, mention it when you contact us.
Reading a diagnostic trouble code is only the starting point. A code identifies the system, circuit, or operating condition that detected a fault—it does not prove which part has failed.
We check stored and pending codes and review the conditions recorded when the fault occurred.
We compare what the vehicle’s sensors and engine-control system are reporting while the engine is running.
We test the sensors, ignition components, electrical circuits, wiring, and connections related to the fault instead of replacing a part based only on the code description.
We inspect relevant components, hoses, and connections. Smoke testing is used to locate intake or EVAP leaks when the results indicate it is needed.
The exact testing path depends on the symptoms, fault information, and results found during the diagnosis. We identify the cause before recommending the repair.
Send us the vehicle year, make and model, its location, how the check engine light behaves, and any other symptoms or previous work. We review the information and confirm the diagnostic service call and its price before the appointment.
We test the vehicle based on the reported symptoms and the results found during the diagnosis. We explain the cause and provide the repair estimate before any additional work begins.
After you approve the repair, we complete the work and perform the appropriate checks to verify that the original condition has been resolved.
Tell us how the check engine light behaves, what symptoms you notice, and any relevant diagnostic or repair history. Based on that information, we confirm which diagnostic service call applies and its price before scheduling the appointment.

Examples of vehicles we have diagnosed and repaired after the check engine light came on.
“The check engine light came on in my 2019 BMW X3 and I really didn't want to deal with the dealership. My neighbor gave me Alex's number and said he's a good mobile mechanic, so I decided to reach out. Alex came out to my place in Vancouver, WA, ran diagnostics, and quickly found the issue. It turned out to be the radiator shutters. He got the OEM parts and fixed everything without any hassle. The price was fair and the whole experience was straightforward and professional. Glad I got his contact, I'll call him again if I need help with the car.”
“Alex came out to my house and met with my fiancée to take a look at my car. He found the source of multiple issues in my car and fixed them overnight! Such great work for such a great price! I will recommend him to anyone who needs a mobile diagnosis and quick and efficient repair, he really knows his stuff and does great, professional work! My ca is running so great now :)”
“I recently had some work done on my Audi and couldn't be more impressed with the quality of service I received. The attention to detail and professionalism were outstanding from start to finish. Alex knows these cars inside and out, and the results speak for themselves - everything was done to the highest standard. It's not easy finding someone you can truly trust with a premium vehicle, but this experience gave me complete confidence. Highly recommended for anyone who values quality, precision, and honest expertise!”
Often, yes. Stored or pending fault codes and freeze-frame information may remain after the light turns off. Intermittent faults may require testing under the conditions in which the problem occurs or additional diagnostic time.
Some repairs can be completed during the diagnostic visit when the cause is confirmed, the correct parts are available, and the work is suitable for the vehicle’s location. Repairs requiring additional parts, time, or shop equipment are arranged after the findings and price are explained.
A flashing check engine light should not be ignored. If the engine is shaking, running rough, or losing power, stop driving as soon as it is safe and contact us with the exact symptoms.
Tell us which warning lights or dashboard messages appeared and whether they came on at the same time. Some warning lights involve separate vehicle systems and may require a different diagnostic service.
Repairs completed by Lubomiroff Performance include warranty coverage under our published warranty terms. Coverage depends on the repair and the parts used.
